The Gebel Kamil Meteorite from East Uweinat Desert, Egypt made contact about 5,000 years ago. Upon impact, this iron-rich meteorite created a crater measuring approximately 147 feet wide and 52 feet deep, this pristinely preserved crater was recently discovered in 2008 during a Google Earth survey via satellite photographs.
