One of the largest amber specimens we have offered, this amber originates from near the El Cerrejón Coal Mine in La Guajira, Colombia. Considered “young amber,” this material likely ranges from tens of thousands to several million years old and displays a deep orange glow. It has a glowing translucence, showcasing preserved insect inclusions and at least one moving enhydro bubble. It has one side that has been highly polished, creating a window into the inclusions within and another side with a rougher low polish. The enhydro bubble shifts back and forth with about 2 millimeters of movement. This material glows with a colorful, saturated brilliance when under a black light. It weighs 1.17 pounds (541 grams) and measures approximately 8 x 4 x 2.5 inches.
