Hyalite is a special, colorless variety of Opal that grows in volcanic formations! Although these Mexican stones do not show typical opalescence, they have their own unique trait - fluorescence! Hyalite contains trace amounts of uranium within its silica structure, causing it to have a bright fluorescent glow. These gemmy, rough Hyalite Opal specimens have a vivid green glow when they're exposed to UV rays and remain translucent crystals in incandescent light. They range in translucence with clear to milky or golden coloring and may contain mineral inclusions.
